A small-section multicore cable made for wiring detection and signalling circuits in intruder alarm installations. Tinned copper conductors keep termination into screw and spring terminals reliable over the life of a system, and the thin overall diameter allows several runs to be dressed into a single containment route. Core counts of 4, 6, 8 and 12 let an installer carry detector, tamper and auxiliary power circuits to one device on a single cable.
Key applications
- Wiring PIR detectors, door contacts and vibration sensors back to the control panel
- Tamper loops and anti-tamper return circuits
- Sounder and strobe connections on domestic and light commercial systems
- Keypad and remote arming station wiring
- Low-current auxiliary supplies to field devices
- Door entry, access control and extra-low-voltage signalling where a multicore is convenient
Features and benefits
- Stranded tinned copper conductors resist corrosion at terminations
- Individually colour-coded cores for straightforward circuit identification
- Rip cord in the sheath speeds stripping without nicking the insulation
- Small overall diameter suits surface clipping and tight containment
- Available in white as standard, with other sheath colours to order
Specification notes and limitations
This is an extra-low-voltage signalling cable rated at 50 V and must never be used for mains circuits or run in the same enclosure as mains wiring unless segregation requirements are met. Keep alarm wiring separated from power cabling to limit induced interference and to satisfy the separation rules in BS 7671. Terminate all unused cores or cut them back cleanly inside the enclosure so they cannot bridge adjacent terminals.
